    Kings Landing with Grandparents

Grammy and Jim made the trip up from South Carolina last week and we took a trip to visit Fredericton and Kings Landing. A great time was had by all and even the weather ended up cooperating for the visit.

    Funtown Splashtown!

Avery and I left Caribou on Wednesday for a daddy/daughter trip down state. Our destination... Funtown! Really, Funtown Splashtown  I took the week off to spend some quality time with Avery and welcome summer to Northern Maine.

Wednesday we made it down to Saco, ME about 5pm, checked into the Hotel and then hit the beach at Pine Point I got a little tip about some possible striper fishing in the area so I did have multiple motivations ;) After a fun couple of hours playing at the beach we headed back to the hotel and called it a night.

Thursday morning was an early morning and we were back at the beach about 7 am. Avery really enjoyed the beach again this morning and found some nice shells. Got back to the hotel about 9, had breakfast and then off to Funtown to be there at 10 when the gates open.

Avery's favorite part of Funtown was Splashtown. This water was cold! as we are in Maine but it did not keep Avery from really enjoying herself!

    She is soo Happy!

A fantastic time was had and we were very tired when we left a little after 5pm. From Funtown we headed north and spent the night in Freeport, ME. Although our trip is still in progress, our plan is to spend some time in Freeport tomorrow before slowly making our way home to Caribou. We will updated if anything fun happens...

    Schools out for Summer!

Last day of school for Avery was actually a total of about 1 hr and 15 minutes. Avery was running a relay leg at the regional track meet and had to leave school at 9am even though her relay was not scheduled to run until about 3pm. Avery really wanted to stay at school and finish out the day but decided to go and cheer her teammates on instead.

Here is Avery hanging out with some of the girls.

Finally! Race time! Ave lined up in the lead off position.

    And she is off!!

Ave ran a good race and tried her best. Very proud of her!

    Snow fort

Opening of snow fort with Avery still inside.

    Snow Fort!

We got about 12 inches of snow last night so after school Avery and I made a snow fort. Avery is sitting cross cross about five feet in from the opening.

They had a science tent up and Avery got to try a marshmellow that had been frozen in liquid nitrogen, as if marshmellows left outside in single digit temps were not cold enough!

    At the festival.

Ave and I went to Fredericton, Canada for their WinterFest. This is breakfast of fresh fruit and French toast.

    Last Post by Kate

As everyone knows, 2012 has brought a lot of changes for us. Along with this I decided to reassess how, if and where I wanted to keep blogging about my life and Avery's life. I decided to turn this blog over to Ralph if he wants to continue using it.

So this is the last post here by me. I have loved the opportunity to write and share on behalf of our family for the past 4 years. I recently turned this blog into a printed book and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I look forward to being able to hold it in my lap and share it with Avery in a more tangible format for her.

I started a new blog called Bird & Buggle (our nicknames). I just posted an intro with my plans for that space over there. In the midst of daily life, finding the time to share a new home project or meal or weekend adventure can be challenging. However, taking the time to write a short note to Avery about something I want her to know about our life together can absolutely happen. And then I can print it and give it to her. My mom kept handwritten journals for us and this way I can give the same thing to my sweet daughter while also keeping interested parties in the loop. Insert unsettling idiom involving 2 stones here.
